Ferda İlerten

Ferda Ilerten is a researcher and lecturer specializing in bilingualism and foreign language education. Currently a visiting researcher at the HGSE under the TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye) postdoctoral research fellowship, she focuses on the development of reading comprehension skills in Turkish-English bilingual children. With over 14 years of teaching experience at Yıldız Technical University in İstanbul, Dr. Ilerten holds a PhD from Boğaziçi University. Passionate about promoting multilingualism, she authored Nurturing Multilingualism: A Practical Bilingual Guide for Immigrant Families to Support Heritage Languages. Her research also explores literacy acquisition in Turkish-Arabic bilingual children, language attrition among immigrant populations, and the preservation of heritage languages.
